Insomnia causes heart attack
54Do you have a sleep disorder? If yes, you should be careful. Newest research that was reported on American Heart Association Journal, mentioned that insomnia could cause a high risk of heart attack.
On the newest research, heart attack risk on insomnia rose from 27 percent to 45 percent than people who don't have a sleep disorder.
Lars Erik Laugsand M.D. and his team from University Science and Technology of Norway divided insomnia to three groups. All night sleep disorder causes risk of heart attack 45 percent higher. If you can't sleep well, you have a risk of heart attack 30 percent higher. For you who woke up, but didn't feel fresh for more than a week, you have a risk of heart attack for about 27 percent.
Lars said that the connection between insomnia and heart attack risk was clear. People with less sleep, will have high blood pressure. High blood pressure becomes one of main factors of heart attack. The connection between insomnia and heart attack is so close, so Laugsand suggested that people who have insomnia to consult with their doctors.
This research was done on 52.610 adult Norwegians that answered questioners about insomnia as a part of national health survey in 1995-1997. Researchers checked medical record and identified heart attack causes on about 2,368 people for 11 years.
Almost 33 percent of people generally experienced at least one insomnia symptom. They said depression and worry are two main causes of insomnia. Every year, 785 thousand of American have heart attack.
